Registering for Nippers 2024/25

Registration Dates

Nippers registrations for the 2024 / 25 season will open:

• On Monday 1 July 2024 exclusively to renewing Bronte SLSC families, namely:
  • Current Bronte nippers and parents who were registered for the 2023/24 season; and
  • Siblings of current Bronte Nippers (U6-U13); and
  • Children of current Bronte patrolling members who were registered for the 2023/24 season (U6-U13).
• Renewals are guaranteed a place during this period only (1 July - 28 July), and
• No new registrations or transfers will be processed.
• On Monday 29 July 2024 to everyone:
  • All registrations (renewal, transfers and new nippers) will be on a first come, first served basis.
  • At Bronte, we do not accept new nippers into U14 for the SRC program unless exceptional circumstances apply (email: nippers@brontesurfclub.com.au)

Registrations will close on 11 August 2024 unless maximum numbers are reached per age group prior.

Registration Process

All registrations will be online (renewals, transfers and new members).

We have created a number of detailed step-by-step guides to assist you with the registration process. They can be accessed on our Membership help page. Please take the time to have a look through them before registering.

Before any new registration can be finalised, new nippers must email a copy of proof-of-age (passport / birth certificate) to nippers@brontesurfclub.com.au or bring it to the Bronte SLSC office to be sighted.

New Nipper families - please note that at least one parent/guardian must also be a member of the club. Please ensure that you join as a 'family' rather than joining yourself or your child as an 'individual'. Full instructions can be found on our Help page.

Nippers Information

Nippers will commence on:

• Sunday 13 October 2024 for Under 6 only; and
• Sunday 20 October 2024 for all age groups.

Age Groups
Any child may join Nippers once they have turned five years old.  Age group is determined as at 30 September each year:

Before any new registrations can be finalised, proof-of-age must be sighted by the club.

Nippers age groups are strict: the SLSA system does not permit movement up or down an age group. At Bronte, we will only permit movement in truly exceptional circumstances (this does not extend to accommodating friendship groups, swim ability or timetabling). 

Proficiency swim requirements
At Nippers, we don’t teach your child to swim – we expect that they are taking lessons or are in squads.  From U8, it is an SLSA requirement that all Nippers complete an annual pool ‘proficiency’ swim and skills evaluation before they can participate in the Nipper program. These evaluations will take place on Sunday 8 September 2024 at St Catherine's School pool (timetable to follow to registered Nippers). Ocean proficiency swims will take place on the first day of Nippers, conditions pending.

Please get your kids in the water (ocean or pool) and into lessons or squads if you have not already done so! The more experience and confidence our Nippers have in the water at any age, the better.
