Skills Maintenance (Proficiency)
Every year you have to complete a Skills Maintenance by 31st December. It is a refresher of your awards to make sure you are still competent to patrol or to compete.THIS MUST BE COMPLETED EVERY YEAR.
Annual proficiencies are required for the following awards: SRC, Bronze Medallion, Advance Resuscitation Techniques (ART/ARTC), Spinal Management, IRB Crew and Driver, Gold Medallion.
To patrol, assist with water safety or the be able to compete, you must be proficient in SRC or Bronze Medallion. If you are not proficient by 31st December that you will not be able to patrol or to compete from 1st January and your membership will be archived.
Only awards gained after 30 June, in a particular year are then proficient in that award until 31 December.
- You gained your bronze medallion in April 2018 (before 30 June), therefore you must complete a proficiency by 31st December 2018
- You gained your bronze medallion in October 2018 (after 30 June), therefore you must complete a proficiency by 31st December 2019

It is a requirement you register the date you wish to do your proficiency. Numbers will be capped to ensure we have enough assessors and resources to safely manage the skills assessment. We will not be able to take unregistered candidates on the day.
