Membership Categories and Conditions
Eligibility and membership responsibilities (conditions of membership) are detailed below for each category.
2024/25 Season
- Membership renewals open in early July and must be completed online via the SLSA Members Portal
- Memberships renewals must be completed by Wednesday 21st August 2024. Tags automatically deactivate on Saturday 31st August 2024 for any memberships not renewed. This includes gym access.
- Memberships are not finalised until BOTH the online membership renewal has been completed and payment has been made.
- It can take at least 15 working days to finalise membership renewals and update tags and we encourage all members to renew as soon as possible to ensure continuity of access.
- Memberships outstanding on Friday 1st September 2024 will incur a late fee of $20 per person
- The Club has provision to support the membership renewal of existing members that are experiencing financial hardship. Please email the Club General Manager, at management@brontesurfclub.com.au if you wish to be considered for this support.
- With the impending demolition of our clubhouse, we have included an option to make a voluntary $80 tax dedcutible donation as part of the renewal process.
Members are advised to familiarise themselves with the terms of their membership category below, and be willing to comply before finalising membership.
It is important to note that payment of membership fees indicates that you agree to the published terms of membership and the consequences for non-compliance of your applicable category. Please click on the relevant membership category to see the full conditions of membership.
During the time between applying for membership and the granting of a formal category of membership by the Club, and gaining an award (e.g. Bronze Medallion) if applicable.
Under 15 years - For members between the ages of 13 and 15 who have obtained the Surf Rescue Certificate and who fulfil club obligations, including maintaining their award by attending an annual skills maintenance session.
Conditions of Cadet Membership
Under 17 years - For members between the ages of 15 and 17 who have obtained or are training towards the Bronze Medallion in that season. Members that already hold either their Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze medallion must fulfil club obligations, including maintaining their award by attending an annual skills maintenance session.
Conditions of Active (15 - 17 Years) Membership
A Bronze medallion holder aged 18 years or more who fulfils full patrol and club obligations, and maintains their award by attending an annual skills maintenance session, unless the member has obtained the Bronze in that season.
Conditions of Active (18 years & over) Membership
An Active member (SRC or Bronze medallion holder) who because of extenuating circumstances has requested in writing to the Club Captain and been approved by the Board of Management a restricted duties membership for that season only. Active and Reserve Active Members who do not attend an annual skills maintenance session will also be transferred to this category.
Members who have satisfactorily completed 8 years of patrols and service, recording a minimum of 30 hours per season with Bronte SLSC or any other club affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia. Members may elect not to be rostered to a regular patrol team and are required to perform a minimum of 12 patrol hours per season. This is required both for SLSA eligibility to compete, as well as for transition to Long Service after 10 Years. If the member remains on a patrol team, they must meet full patrol requirements.
Conditions of Reserve Active Membership
Members who have satisfactorily completed 8 years Active Service and at least 2 years Reserve Active Service. Exempt from patrol obligations, however, if the member remains on a patrol team, they must meet full patrol requirements.
Conditions of Long Service Membership
General Member (Nipper Parent)
Allows nipper parents to assist on the beach during nipper activities. Membership includes insurance cover provided by SLSA should an injury be sustained while participating in a club approved nipper activity. Membership must be renewed annually.
Conditions of General Membership
Members must be at least 35 years of age. Associates have full access to club facilities including the option to join the gym at the current published rate. All club members are subject to the club’s constitution and regulations.
Life Membership is only granted following nomination and approval by the Board of Management, for distinguished service to Bronte Surf Life Saving Club.
Elected for a period of one year at the discretion of the Board of Management, primarily in recognition of exceptional service to Bronte. Gym access is not included, but may be purchased at the current published rate. Honorary members do not hold voting rights.
