Surf Rescue Certificate
Given it is their last year as Nippers, the Under 14's participate in the SRC program and therefore become qualified active members of the Club, largely assisting with Water Safety
The aim of the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. The course is also the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision.
The Under 14's must have completed a minimum of 200m swim in five minutes or less to qualify for the program, the same proficiency that was completed in Under 11 - Under 13's.
The course has changed over the last year with it now being fast tracked so the kids can participate on Sunday's as Nipper Water Safety and perform patrols. The course will be a set as online tutorials which the kids will complete before an intensive weekend session of skills and hands-on training.
During this time they will develop skills in;
- Safety and wellbeing
- Surf awareness and skills
- First aid
- Rescue techniques
The Under 14's must complete an assessment at the end of the course to be awarded their SRC.
