NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING
Friday 11th July 2014
Notice is hereby given that a Special General Meeting of the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club (the Club) will be held at 11.00 am on Sunday, 3 August 2014 at the Clubhouse, Bronte Beach, Bronte Park, Bronte Road, Bronte.
We have received feedback from a number of members in relation to the new proposed constitution. The Board Of Management is appreciative that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. There has however been a number of areas that were identified where it was considered the Constitution could be a little clearer. Accordingly, members have requested a few minor clarifying amendments to the Constitution.
These amendments relate to:
- a) Voting entitlements of members - while the Regulations set out the voting entitlements of each category of membership, it was considered helpful to state in rule 7.2 which members will be entitled to vote at General Meetings.
- b) Disciplinary procedures - to ensure there is the right for the Board to establish disciplinary procedures for members, rule 10.2 has been updated to confirm the Board may prescribe such procedures in the Regulations.
- c) Eligibility to act as director - rule 17.1.2 be amended to make it clear that only voting members are eligible to be nominated as candidates for election as a director.
In the opinion of the Board of Management, these amendments are not substantive but are helpful to ensure there is no ambiguity as to the operation of the Club.
In addition, there have however been a number of typos and cross references that have been picked up. These changes are reflected in the mark-up of the Constitution that are now available here. There are a number of hard copies of the constitution available to be viewed at the Club during the week as well.
If anyone has any queries in relation to the proposed Constitution (including any queries in relation to the proposed minor amendments to the Constitution) please feel free to contact me on 0407 518 399 or Peter Butcher on 0411 795 256.
I look forward to seeing members Sunday .
