Covid-19 Updates - Bronte SLSC Current Restrictions

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club has needed to modify patrol and club activities.  The below table is a summary of the current club activities and access as of 8 November 2021.  This information is subject to change so please check back regularly. 

When carrying out any Club activity, all NSW Public Health Orders must be adhered to.

You must NOT attend any Bronte SLSC in-person activity if you are unwell, are a close contact of a Covid case, are required to get a Covid test, or are required to quarantine.

Can Bronte SLSC members undertake these activities?
Patrol (16+ years)
Attend Patrol
  • The patrolling season started on 18 September 2021.
  • Patrols have returned to normal patrol numbers for Members who are fully vaccinated. COVID Safe protocols will remain in place.
  • When patrol members are outdoors, they are not required to wear masks. Masks are however required when performing first aid or in indoors areas.
  • Patrol members must sign in using the QR code.
  • Vaccination is mandatory for all patrolling members (see policy here).
  • If members do not feel safe patrolling, they should contact the club.
  • Patrol Captains will remain in contact directly with their patrol members.
Skills MaintenanceOnline component available via SLSA Members Portal and must be completed prior to attending a face-to-face session.

Cadets
Skills MaintenanceOnline component available via SLSA Members Portal and must be completed prior to attending a face-to-face session.

Face-to-face sessions are taking place October and November 2021. Cadets have been contacted directly.

Attend Patrol
  • Cadet patrols resumed on Sunday 17th of October. COVID Safe protocols are in place.
  • Cadets will be required to follow all stipulations outlined above for patrol members (16+).
  • If cadets do not feel safe patrolling, they should contact the Director of Youth (cadets@brontesurfclub.com.au).
Nippers / SRC

Nippers Proficiency SwimTook place on the 7th of November at Bronte. Further opportunities will be provided during regular Nippers. Speak to your Age Manager.
Age Managers and Officials CoursesOnline component available via eLearning in the SLSA Members Portal.
SRC Course for U14Commenced for fully vaccinated participants – refer separate communications to SRC families.
Education
Bronze Medallion TrainingOn hold – Please register interest & you will be informed when courses resume
Advanced Awards TrainingFace-to-face on hold. Online components available for some awards. Please register interest
Club Facilities
Attend the club for training, paddling, or the gym

From the 8th of November 2021, the following are available for fully vaccinated members:

  • Gymnasium – Open 5:30am to 9:00pm under a strict COVID plan. Numbers are limited to one person per 2m2.
  • Training and paddling - limited to 20 members per group indoors. There is no limit on numbers for groups outdoors. All club board and swim training has recommenced for fully vaccinated members. 

Club access tags will only be reactivated for financial Members who have provided evidence of their vaccination status. Members will be required to QR code on entry.

Attend the club for social/ recreational activity

Since the 11th of October 2021, the club has been open for fully vaccinated members in accordance with our COVID Safety plan.

Numbers are limited to one person per 2m2. Standing while consuming alcohol is permitted.

Members may be accompanied by a guest to club social functions. All persons entering the club must QR code and show their vaccination status on entry. Bookings will be essential – email marketing@brontesurfclub.com.au 

Access club to use equipment

Since the 11th of October 2021, fully-vaccinated Members have been able to access the club and use club equipment (once they have renewed their membership and provided evidence of their vaccination status). 

Club access tags will only be reactivated for financial Members who have provided evidence of their vaccination status. Members will be required to QR code on entry.

Surf Sports Competition

From the 8th of November 2021, surf sports can occur with no limit of fully vaccinated participants. Events over 1,000 people require a COVID Safe plan. 

Modified carnivals are being planned at this stage for November and the New Year 2022. Refer to SLSS Circular 12 for further information.
