As a Reserve Active club member you agree to meet the 3 following requirements: 


1) Attend an annual skills maintenance to keep your awards current
Keep your Bronze Medallion & any other relevant qualification current by attending an annual skills maintenance session.  Bronze, ARTC, Spinal Management, IRB Crew & IRB Driver expire on 31st December each year. 

2) Volunteer at the Bondi to Bronte (B2B) Ocean Swim – 1st Sunday in December
The B2B is the clubs most important fundraising event for the season.  We raise vital funds to support all club activities and provide equipment for Nippers, Education, Lifesaving and Competition.  ALL club members (excluding nippers) are required to volunteer for a minimum of 3 hours relating to the event (either pre, during or post the event).   With prior written approval from club administration you may substitute these voluntary hours for another club activity.  For a full list of volunteer roles and to sign up click here.

3) Accrue a minimum of 12 patrol hours per season
As a Reserve Active club member you are not required to be part of a regular patrol team.  In that case, it is your responsibility attend patrols on a voluntary basis to a minimum of 12 hours within the season.  This is mandatory for members to be eligible for long service after two years. The minimum 12 hours required per season also corresponds with Surf Lifesaving Australia requirements for all competitors in the U15 and above age groups.

If you choose to remain allocated to a set patrol team you will be required to attend all rostered patrols or find a substitute if you are unable to attend.  The club provides an interactive swap forum SWAPSEA for members to find patrol substitutes.

What if I don’t meet my commitments? 

Failure to attend an annual Skills Maintenance session

It is a Surf Life Saving Australia insurance requirement that all member Awards are current for the volunteer role they perform.  I.E.  Bronze, ARTC, Spinal Management, IRB Crew, IRB Driver.  If you have not renewed your Award by 31st December in the year you are patrolling, you will no longer be able to patrol or provide water safety.  Your membership and your club access tag will be suspended for the remainder of the season and you will not have access to club equipment or facilities.

Failure to accrue a minimum of 12 patrol hours per season

All reserve active members not allocated to a patrol team are required to log a minimum of 12 patrol hours per season.  If by 1st of February you have not accrued at least 4 patrol hours your membership and club access tag will be suspended and you will be required to attend a judiciary panel of the Life Saving Committee to give reason why your membership should not be suspended for the remainder of the season.

Reserve Active allocated to a patrol team
We rely on our members attending the patrol dates they are rostered to and we monitor member attendance throughout the season.  If you are a “no-show” for two or more patrols your membership & club access tag will be suspended and you will be required to attend a judiciary panel of the Life Saving Committee to give reason why your membership should not be suspended for the remainder of the season.
