Bronte Surf Club Member News

To end the perfect Fathers Day why not bring Dad down to Bronte Surf Club and enjoy the spectacular view from the balcony. Bar will be open at 3pm and the first drink for Dad is on the club!

At last Sunday's AGM Andrew Bowden was congratulated for becoming the 90th Inductee into the SLSA Hall of Fame. Andrew is a very humble Bronte SLSC Lifesaver who has an extraordinary record of achievements which includes 15 SLS Australian individual  Gold medals, 7 Australian team Gold medals and 5 World Championship Gold Medals, in addition to many other highly acclaimed awards.

The Hall of Fame Award will formally presented to Andrew at the National Awards in November.

Congratulations Andrew!

It is a great honour and a privilege to assume the role of Club Captain given the large shoes/flippers that precede me.

Outgoing Club Captain, Iljko Miocevic led the Lifesaving team for 4 years and I thank him for his support for the Club, PC’s, and particularly myself in the role of Gear steward. Whilst losing him as the Club Captain, Waverley District is gaining him as a Duty Officer where his mentoring skills and experience will be invaluable.   I commend him on this accomplishment and ongoing dedication to the club and Community as a whole.

As my first order of business it gives me great pleasure to introduce Emma Finnerty as Bronte Surf Club's first female Vice-Captain.  Emma, who among other things is a patroller, IRB Crew person & trainee driver will provide a much-needed balance and representation of our members and the community as a whole.

After conducting member surveys and workshops, one of the Club's core aims this year is to provide greater access to intermediate and advanced skills training for existing members, be it Board Rescue, First Aid or Incident Management.

We aim to address that with realistic rescue training sessions that will build (or rebuild) all the good things learnt as a cohesive team during Bronze training.

I look forward to meeting and patrolling with all our members and groups, working to strengthen our already great lifesaving foundation.

Train Hard - Rescue Easy.
