New SRC's are hitting the beach

Our U14s have graduated with their Surf Rescue Certificates and were presented with their patrol uniforms last Sunday afternoon. You will see many of them on the beach on Sunday mornings enthusiastically assisting with Water Safety as well as on patrols.

Congratulations guys

Message from our new Nipper Captains, Chole Cullen and Luke McLellan

On behalf of the U14 Age Group, first and foremost, we would like to thank Sam Stone for teaching and guiding us to pass our SRC.

To our Age Managers – Ryan, Mike, Adam, Nick and Cathy, thank you for all your help over the years. We really appreciate it.

To the Nipper Committee – Bettsy, Jason, Jess, Amber, Marc and to the Club President – Basil, thank you for supporting our Nipper journey.

Lastly, to our parents for taking us to Nippers every Sunday for the last 8 years or so, Thank you for volunteering as Water Safety and Officials. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to compete at carnivals and complete our SRC.

Though our journey as a Nipper is over, we are all looking forward to being a Lifesaver and be part of a team that is committed to surf lifesaving.

Thank you.

The #BeardSeasonSkincheck Tent.

On Sunday we will be joined by some other special bearded guests... Jimmy Niggles Esq. and the team from Beard Season!

This Bronte based charity will be providing free 'educational skin checks' for Surf Club members and friends from 9am ~ 1pm.

The initiative started after the tragic death of their mate Wes Bonny who lived in Clovelly for a while before losing his battle to melanoma.

Since then, the group has committed themselves to growing beards for winter, getting a skin check and using their beards as life saving conversation starters to encourage as many people as they can to get a #BeardSeasonSkincheck. It's seen then take their message global. They've hosted events for 35,000+ people in London, visited Sir Richard Branson at Necker Island and even given a check to Prince Fredrik of Denmark as part of Hamilton Island Race Week! Melanoma is one of the deadliest cancers in the world, and as 'Australia's national cancer', the group have managed to make a huge impact, now saving an average of a life a week.

Jimmy and the team will show you how to look for suss looking spots, and check any you might be concerned about. Everyone will be encouraged to visit their GP or dermatologist for a more thorough check - up. So this won't be a definitive analysis . However, this will be a great opportunity for you and your family to learn more about enjoying the sun more safely as we head into summer.

Look for the big white tent (and beards)!

LAST Proficiency will be held this Sunday

If you still need to complete your proficiency for this season please come down this Sunday. This will be the last chance for the year.
