Bronte Surf Club Member News

Congratulations to all our members who competed in the recent Aussie titles
held at Kirra Beach.
Unfortunately due to the effects of Tropical Cyclone Debbie many ocean events
for the Opens were cancelled.
There was a fighting bronze medal for our Boaties in the 160 yrs final. Congratulations Daniel Morris, Steve McKenzie, Chris Pike, Paul Wilson and Cameron Stuart.

The club would also like to congratulate Steve Iannazzo for his silver medal
in the Masters Champion Lifesaver Event.
As the photo below shows, our Olympian Jarrod Poort was a magnificent second in the blue riband Open Men's Surf race, following a close finish up the sand,
an outstanding achievement !

In the Masters, Mark Arbib came 4th in the 2km beach run, with Trish Ford gaining 6th and 7th in her two beach events and Paul Chivers 4th in the Malibu long-boarding riding. Our youth Competitors, Nico Love and Jamie Gavin both made the semi's in their respective surf races, and Nico also making the semi in his board race.

Dean Blanche, Chris Kilmurray and Matt Eltham made the final in the Open Ski Relay.
Our Open Patrol competition team narrowly missed out on a medal, coming in 4th, whilst our U17 team, competing in their first Aussies, came 5th overall.
In the U17 individual Champion Lifesaver, Karli Musarra made the final in 8th place, with William Maccance 5th and Leigh Ryan 7th in the Open Champion Lifesaver.

Well done to all of you in some tough conditions,
you've done Bronte very proud !

Congratulations to our latest Bronzies !

Congratulations to our newest lifesavers who passed their assessment on the weekend.
Despite challenging conditions and very little time in the water due to weeks of closed beaches they were an awesome team and all passed with flying colours.
Of course, a big thanks to our amazing trainers and assessors who give so much of their time to make it all possible.
Andrew, Bill, David, Emily, Nicolette, Nigel, Phil, Paul, Ryan and Sam !
It truly takes a whole village to train a lifesaver !

Back to Bronte !
Annual Reunion Day for all Club Members and Veterans

Another fantastic season is quickly drawing to a close, and with that
comes our annual Reunion Day.
This is a great opportunity for all past members, some young and some not so young, to get together and share many stories forged from their time at Bronte Surf Club, over a cold ale and a good feed courtesy of Donna, Pat and Jimmy.

We cannot emphasise enough that this a day for ALL past members, whether you've been gone only a year or two, or twenty, thirty or fifty years, we'd like to see everyone come together for another fabulous Sunday down at Bronte Beach.

Sunday April 30th from 12 to 4pm in the Surf Club bar.
$50 a head covers lunch and drinks until 4pm.
Please spread the word to your mates and members who you haven't seen for a while and get them on board for a great day back at Bronte !
